Brseč

Brseč

This is a medieval town of amazing stone beauty. Situated on 157 meters high cliffs overlooking the sea, this town, 20 kilometers from Opatija, represents the end of the Liburnia Riviera. From Brseč, enjoy the views of the islands of Cres, Unija, Susak as well as of Učka Mountain’s southernmost peak Sisol (835m), which can be reached by hiking trails. The hundred residents of Brseč today guard the memories of the town’s rich history and tradition and of the many famous artists and priests that came from this town. Among them were Archbishop Josip Uhač, Cardinal of the Holy Roman Church, and buried here in the Church of St. George. Brseč once lived from agriculture, wine-making, cattle-breeding and fishing and it is interesting to note that for the past one hundred years, this town has not had any illiteracy.
